Research
Our laboratory focuses on the development of new approaches to the handling and evaluation of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) specimens both in the diagnosis and in the pre-operative prognostic evaluation of endocrine neoplasms.
The future aims of the laboratory are to investigate whether the detection of a number of molecular markers of malignancy is feasible and useful in the cytological diagnosis of endocrine neoplasms. As novel genetic markers are identified, the molecular diagnosis of FNA material will continue to expand and play a role in the management of patients with suspected endocrine neoplasms.
